Help For Authors And Aspiring Authors:
How To Become A Relevant Writer
By Okechukwu Okugo
1. Stay focused. No matter what, don't stop writing.
2. Know your target audience. Every piece of writing is not meant for everybody to consume. There are people who your piece of work would interest more than others. Those are your target audience. In them, you can find readers. Always go for them. Always dowel your tent among them. When they read you and talk about you, others outside your target audience will get to know you, thereby enabling your target audience to widen out.
3. At all cost, never focus your attention on how to get others appreciate your work. Concentrate all your effort to reach the heart of your target audience. When you reach their hearts, then you can make more impact because they are the ones who can make others know your relevance or worth. And always remember that you cannot please everybody, no matter how good you are with the pen. It is a waste of time trying to.
4. Don't write for money. Don't write for fame. Write to make a change. Write to create solutions to problems. Write to quieten frayed nerves. Those you have touched positively would never stop talking about your book. And then, your relevance can bring you the fame or the money.
