What is creativity? And how can one apply creativity in whatever he or she does to help themselves?
Creativity involves the use of imagination to bring out something that is different or original. The ability to turn something into a different pattern or to apply it to solve a different problem, is also called creativity.
The ability to generate new ideas. The ability to transform things in your mind or head into existence, into reality is creativity.
Creativity comes from critical thinking; and applying the power of one's imagination to provide an answer to a specific problem, challenge, or to bring about new results.
Creativity involves that one thinks outside the box. Someone who wants to apply creativity must be ready to think unconventionally. A creative person is not limited in thoughts. There is no boundary in his or her thought process.
Creativity is not only applied because their is a challenge. Creativity can be applied to increase the value of something or to improve performance.

How can creativity be applied?
Let's take for example, a mobile phone. The primary function of a mobile phone is to make and receive calls or send SMS. But applying creativity into it will enable the mobile phone to do various internet functions like video calls, mobile banking, GPS functions etc.
Another example is the sofa or cushion. The primary function of it is to sit down. But the ability to turn it into a comfortable bed one can sleep on at night, or turning it into other different cabinet functions is called, creativity.
Nothing can be limited to only a particular function. E.g. the umbrella; we all know the primary function is to provide a covering for rains, can be made to perform other functions. Nothing stops an umbrella having an embedded water-resistant watch. This adds additional value to the product. While it provides covering, at the same time, it helps the user keep time. An umbrella can basically be made to perform additional functions. And that is creativity.
Creativity brings about solutions. Creativity brings about new solutions to old problems; or a complete new solution to a new challenge, that the solution might have eluded the society for generations.
Someone who is creative will not always stick to old ways of doing a particular thing. Creativity brings about new standards and enables an individual or a company to meet up with new requirements.
A creative person will always be ready to constantly trying new things and checking out the impact. That is why creative people always originate and bring about new results and solutions.

Examining the product more closely, think critically or deeply, what and what you can do to either enhance the function of the product, or make it perform a totally new function or functions, alongside the original function the product performs.

Fear can also kill creativity. The fear of failure. The fear of what the outcome may be. But failure should not deter one trying a new thing. It is better to fail trying to do a great thing than stay without trying. Not trying at all adds no value to one, while trying and failing may lead to new discoveries and corrections that will make the right answer or solution nearer.
